BEING WITH WHAT IS

Being With What Is – Powerful Practice of True Acceptance

I have had many moments standing on the rim this holiday season, most recently sitting and looking out at the snow.  On one side, wishing something were different – my reactions, the behavior of others, the gift that wasn’t in the right size, relatives being who they are in my home with all the concomitant dramas (feeding the dog peanut butter out of the jar on the wood floor and oops its all over the floor and my feet but don’t worry the dog is licking them clean) – and the other side of the rim, the mantra – Be With What Is.

This is one of the most Queenly teachings of them all.

Full acceptance that it is what it is, if it were meant to be different if would have been.   Accepting it all without resistance is a muscle that needs to built.  It’s like being squeezed through the opening of the toothpaste holder, or better still, the birth canal.  In a way, full acceptance is like a birth.  Everything it takes to push through, all the focused attention and intention, is what creates the freedom on the other side.  The community around giving us the language of push, push, push.  Having internalized each other’s voices gives us the strength to push through.

You cannot change anything until you accept it.  Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. (C.G. Jung, Modern Man in Search of a Soul).

The work we do together in Rewiring helps to build the muscle for a life of liberation, of full acceptance of the What Is.  The unpacking, examining, cord cutting and intention setting; turning towards our intuition, inviting our deep, feminine knowing, as well as both trust and grace, are the ingredients.

I have incredible gratitude for this community of intentional women who have chosen to live this latter period of our lives with greater consciousness, with more open hearts, and to life closer to Truth.   We get reminded many times each day that living the life of a Queen is a choice.  It’s easier for me to choose to accept it all as it is, because you do, and we’re connected. Encourage your people to come to Q15 on March 14th!  You’re always welcome to review the work for 50% off.

Announcements:

Our Winter Boogie for Good Dance Party in Bethesda this Saturday Jan 11th, could use some support from our dear Queens.  We have three wonderful recipients (click the link!).  Even if you can’t come, you can donate a ticket ($75). It would be greatly appreciated!  We’d miss you, and would really value your contribution too.  You can just let me know that you’ve donated a ticket, and I won’t count that against our restricted number at the venue.  If cost is an issue for your attendance, please reach out to me we’ll work something out!

A new website called Super Aging just posted a good general synopsis on how to take best care of ourselves at this age.

I just finished reading Briefly Perfectly Human by Alua Arthur.  As I am surely in the last third of my life, I feel so strongly that becoming more comfortable with dying and how this impacts my experience of living is key.  I even signed up for a certificate with Queen Deb Hicks as a death doula, starting January 13th at University of Vermont, thanks to Queen Nancy Heaton Longstein sharing her experience with us.  Check out here Ted Talk!  Very inspiring (to me).

Rewiring Together weekend programs for 2025 will begin on March 14th, April 4th, September 12th, and October 3rd.  Registration is open!  It’s never too early to enroll your friends. Something positive happens when you commit to an act of self-care, even if enrolling 6 months before the workshop date!

NOTE:  I’ll be sending around a poll through the Queens email,  Please please take the survey to let me know what you’re looking for if anything from the community of Queens as we roll into 2025.
